abstract | An undercoat layer having excellent adhesiveness to an image forming layer before and after a heat development treatment is provided, and a material on a back layer surface is not transferred to a surface on an image forming layer side, so that coatability and flatness are improved. To provide a photothermographic material having excellent photographic performance, particularly, excellent image quality with small density unevenness. An image forming layer having a photosensitive silver halide, an organic silver salt, and a reducing agent on one surface of a support and a protective layer having a matting agent on the outer surface thereof are provided. In a photothermographic material in which a subbing layer containing a water-soluble polymer as a main component is provided between forming layers and a back layer having a matting agent is provided on the surface on the opposite side, the average of the matting agent on the surface of the protective layer is obtained. The amount of the matting agent having an average particle size of the matting agent on the surface of the back layer larger than the particle size and having a particle size larger than the average particle size of the matting agent present on the back layer side, which is present on the surface on the image forming layer side.
