abstract An optical recording medium capable of performing good recording and reproduction with a laser having a wavelength of 300 to 900 nm and a novel imide compound are provided. An optical recording medium containing an imide compound in a recording layer. According to the present invention, by using the imide compound of the present invention in a recording layer, a 300-900 nm wavelength laser, which is attracting much attention as a high-density optical recording medium, particularly a 400-410 nm wavelength blue-violet laser, is used.
