Kind Code: A1 A microorganism-derived laccase (polyphenol oxidase) having the following properties: (1) substrate specificity: 2,2′-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), guaiacol; Catalyzes an oxidation reaction using 4-hydroxyindole, 2,6-dimethoxyphenol, catechol, pyrogallol, and shillingaldazine as substrates, (2) optimal pH; 6.5-7.5, (3) molecular weight: SDS -An enzyme having a molecular weight of 70,000-80,000 daltons by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, a method for producing the same, a microorganism producing the enzyme, and a method for decomposing phenolic compounds and aromatic amine compounds.
