abstract An object of the present invention is to concentrate a solution in which a trace component is dissolved in a solvent, without requiring skilled skills, to perform the operation easily and in a short time, and to suppress the loss of the trace component lower than in the conventional method. Provided are a concentration device and a concentration method. A concentrating apparatus according to the present invention includes a sample container storing a solution in which a trace component is dissolved in a solvent, and a pressure reducing means for reducing an internal pressure of the sample container. By maintaining the boiling point of the solvent to be higher than the pressure at which the temperature of the solution 12 becomes equal to the temperature of the solution 12, the solvent can be efficiently vaporized while suppressing bumping and boiling of the solution 12.
