A biodegradable biopolymer material having excellent biochemical characteristics, a production method thereof, and a functional material made of the polymer material. A silk fibroin alone or a complex of silk fibroin derived from rabbit or wild silkworm and a second substance selected from cellulose, chitin, chitosan, chitosan derivatives, wool keratin, and polyvinyl alcohol. Biodegraded by proteolytic enzymes. A mixed aqueous solution of an aqueous silk fibroin solution derived from a rabbit or wild silkworm and an aqueous solution of a second substance is applied onto a substrate and evaporated to dryness to solidify to produce a film-like biodegradable biopolymer material. At this time, the concentration of each aqueous solution is adjusted to 0.1 to 5% by weight, and the aqueous solution is stirred so that gelation, precipitation, and coagulation reaction do not occur, and mixed uniformly to prepare a mixed aqueous solution.
