abstract |
[PROBLEMS] To provide a plant having early flowering ability by isolating a TERMINAL FLOWER 1-like gene involved in suppression of flower bud formation in a perennial plant, and further transforming the plant with antisense DNA of the gene. A novel TERMINAL FLOWER 1-like gene was cloned from apple. A DNA that hybridizes with a DNA consisting of the nucleotide sequence of the gene and a sequence complementary to all or part of the nucleotide sequence under stringent conditions, and encodes a protein having flower bud formation inhibitory activity.
