abstract |
A perpendicular magnetic recording medium capable of high-density recording, a method of manufacturing the same, and a magnetic storage device are provided. A perpendicular magnetic recording medium (10) has a recording layer (14), a protective layer (15) and a lubricating layer (16) formed by arranging a soft magnetic backing layer (12), a non-magnetic intermediate layer (13), and hard magnetic fine particles (17) on a substrate (11). The layers are stacked in this order. The hard magnetic fine particles 17 have an average particle diameter of 2 nm or more and 10 nm or less, a standard deviation of the particle diameter of 10% or less of the average particle diameter, an average gap of 0.2 to 5 nm, and easy magnetization of the recording layer 14.
