abstract The present invention provides a method for producing a zirconia sol that allows a hydrolysis reaction to proceed safely and efficiently, and a method for producing a zirconia fine powder using the method. A method for producing a zirconia sol in which an aqueous solution containing a zirconium salt is heated and hydrolyzed, wherein the aqueous solution contains acidic electrolyzed water, and a method for producing the zirconia sol. A method for producing zirconia fine powder in which the obtained zirconia sol is dried, calcined, and pulverized to obtain a fine powder of zirconia or partially stabilized zirconia.
