titleOfInvention Sealed nickel zinc primary battery
abstract An object of the present invention is to realize an alkaline primary battery which is excellent in high-rate discharge characteristics and has a small increase in internal pressure due to generation of hydrogen during overdischarge. The battery of the present invention comprises a sealed container containing at least a positive electrode containing nickel higher oxide as a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode containing zinc or its alloy as a negative electrode active material, a separator, and an electrolytic solution. In the nickel-zinc primary battery, manganese dioxide is added to the positive electrode in an amount of 3 to 7% by mass based on the nickel higher oxide, and the ratio of the theoretical capacity of the negative electrode to the theoretical capacity of the positive electrode (the negative electrode theoretical capacity) / Theoretical capacity of the positive electrode) in the range of 1.2 to 1.0.
