abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a novel compound which is useful as an ultraviolet absorber, and to provide a composition containing an ultraviolet absorber comprising the novel compound. A bisbenzotriazolyl phenol compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a composition containing the same. [In the formula, A represents a methylene group, a (CH 3 ) 2 C group or a C 2 H 5 (CH 3 ) C group. R 1 and R 8 are the same or different and each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an aryl group, an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a halogen atom. R 2 , R 3 , R 5 and R 6 are the same or different and represent a linear or branched alkylene group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
