(57) [Summary]nA method for producing a composite pigment of precipitated calcium carbonate (OCC) and a silicon compound is disclosed. The PCC / silicate composite pigments prepared according to the present invention not only provide excellent bulk, light scattering ability, porosity and printability on paper, but are also competitive in price. The method introduces carbon dioxide into lime milk containing calcium hydroxide suspended in an aqueous medium to effectively precipitate calcium carbonate; within about 90-100% of the completion of the calcium carbonate precipitation reaction Introducing the soluble silicate compound into the aqueous medium when proceeding to; and precipitating the insoluble silicon compound on the precipitated calcium carbonate in the aqueous medium containing the soluble silicate compound and precipitated calcium carbonate to obtain a composite pigment.
