titleOfInvention | Blue glass with excellent UV and IR absorption |
abstract | SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is a soda-lime-silica glass composition that is blue in color and has excellent UV and IR absorption. The spectral properties of the blue glass composition have a dominant wavelength of 477-494 and a stimulating purity of 6-40% at a thickness of 4.0 mm. Blue glass composition, 68-75% of SiO 2, 10 to 18 percent of Na 2 O, 5 to 15 percent of CaO, 0% of the MgO, 0 to 5% of Al 2 O 3 and 0 to 5% has a K 2 O, where CaO + MgO is 6~15% Na 2 O + K 2 O is the base glass composition and 10 to 20% as Fe 2 O 3 of 0.4 to 2.0% total From iron oxide, 0.15 to 2.00% manganese oxide as MnO 2 , 0.005 to 0.025% cobalt oxide as Co and 0 to 1.00% titanium oxide as TiO 2 , essentially Having a colorant. Glass is useful for automotive or architectural applications. It is preferably made by a nitrite-free method, which preferably involves the use of a reducing agent during the dissolution operation. |
