titleOfInvention | Method and apparatus for forming food clusters |
abstract | Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for forming food clusters, the method and apparatus breaking a food floor into appropriately sized clusters using a finger wheel (225). . After mixing the food, for example popcorn, with the coating material to be coated on the food, a floor of the mixture is formed. The floor is then forced through the fixed fingers (305) by the finger wheel (225) at the optimal temperature for forming the clusters, thereby breaking the floor into individual clusters. The average size of the cluster is determined by the spacing between the finger on the finger wheel (225) and the fixed finger when they engage. Once divided into clusters, the clusters are sent to a cooler / shifter (130) where the clusters are cooled and moved before being packaged and packaged. |
