(57) [Summary]nProvided are methods of using modulatory agents to enhance or inhibit claudin-mediated cell adhesion in a variety of in vivo and in vitro contexts. In certain embodiments, the modulatory agent may be used to increase blood / brain barrier permeability. The modulating agent comprises at least one claudin cell adhesion recognition sequence or an antibody or fragment thereof that specifically binds this claudin cell adhesion recognition sequence. Modulatory agents further include one or more cell adhesion recognition sequences that are recognized by other adhesion molecules. Such a modulatory agent is, but need not be, linked to the target molecule, drug and / or support material. |
