abstract |
(57) Abstract: A non-toxic immunogenic chimeric flavivirus is provided. This chimeric virus is constructed to include amino acid mutations in non-structural proteins of flavivirus. The chimeric virus containing the attenuated mutant nonstructural gene of the virus is used as a backbone into which the structural proteins of the second flavivirus strain are inserted. These chimeric viruses elicit apparent immunogenicity but lack the attendant clinical symptoms of viral disease. The attenuated chimeric virus is effective as an immunogenic or vaccine and can be combined in a pharmaceutical composition to confer stimulant immunity against some strains of pathogenic flavivirus. |
