abstract (57) [Summary]nThe present invention provides a nuclease-resistant external guide sequence (EGS) oligonucleotide whose sequence is selected from the group consisting of Inno-1405, Inno-1407, and Bcl-xL1 listed in Table 1. The present invention also provides a method for inducing cleavage of a specific intracellular mRNA through activation of RNace P, which comprises contacting a cell with a mixture containing an EGS oligonucleotide and a carrier. The present invention provides a method of down-regulating PKC-α protein expression and PKC-α mRNA expression, comprising contacting a cell with a mixture comprising an EGS oligonucleotide and a carrier. The present invention provides a method of down-regulating bcl-xL protein expression and bcl-xL mRNA expression, comprising contacting a cell with a mixture comprising an EGS oligonucleotide and a carrier.
