abstract | (57) [Summary]nDisclosed is a solid, self-supported cycloalkadienyl catalyst component, which is the reaction product of (i) an alkoxide or aryloxide of magnesium with an alkoxide or aryloxide containing at least one Group IVB metal. Mixed metal alkoxide complexes and (ii) Cp, where Cp is a cyclic or polycyclic hydrocarbon having 3 to 30 carbon atoms. Also disclosed are self-supporting hybrid catalysts, which also contain components (i) and (ii) set forth above, and (iii) a Ziegler-Natta catalyst species. Also disclosed are a method for producing the self-supported cycloalkadienyl catalyst and the self-supported hybrid catalyst, and a method for polymerizing an olefin using the catalyst. The catalysts have the ability to provide polyolefins with broad molecular weight distribution or bimodal distribution in high yields. |
