(57) [Summary]nThe present invention describes methods for the biosynthesis of halogenated natural products, transgenic plants and transgenic microorganisms, wherein the halogenation is substrate and regiospecific. In particular, the invention relates to the use of a halogenated metabolite produced by the method of the invention for the protection of a host organism against pathogens, and more particularly to the protection of plants against plant pathogens. In this regard, the present invention provides transgenic plants with increased resistance to plant pathogens and bioregulated organisms with enhanced biocontrol properties. |
