| abstract | (57) [Summary] Absorbent garments having a pants-like shape are constructed by intentionally arranging leg elastics, and provide an aesthetically beautiful and finished appearance at leg openings. Such planned arrangements include fixing the leg elastics to the outer cover and folding the outer cover over the elastic, or placing the elastic between the liquid-permeable body side liner and the outer cover. Folding the outer cover over the elastic body and securing the outer cover to the bodyside liner, or folding the outer cover around the elastic body more than once. In each case, the distance between the leg elastics is approximately equal to the width dimension of the outer cover of the finished product. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the finished product does not have the leg elastics in direct contact with the wearer. In other embodiments, a portion of the outer cover extends laterally beyond the absorbent layer and can act as a seamless leak guard. |
