(57) [Summary]nBy reacting an aromatic compound such as toluene, benzene with a reactant such as a combination of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methanol or a methylating agent produced therefrom, para-xylene (PX) is formed. It has been discovered that it can be synthesized with improved selectivity. In combination with selective methylation technology and a fuel syngas source, some advantages of simplification of the selective methylation process and low cost feedstock utilization are created. Fuel syngas is used on a single flow basis. |
