titleOfInvention Circuit device for adjusting the operating point of a power amplifier
abstract (57) Abstract A circuit arrangement for controlling a power amplifier transistor that guarantees as little power consumption as possible at varying output power is described. Such a circuit is particularly suitable for mobile telephone amplifiers. In particular, a circuit arrangement for adjusting at least two different operating points for at least two different output power ranges is described. At the first operating point, the quiescent current in the power amplifier transistor is adjusted by a first current mirror having an active feedback circuit for temperature compensation. At the second operating point, the quiescent current in the power amplifier transistor is adjusted by a second current mirror having a second feedback circuit. The third operating region is operated in a saturation mode that compensates for maximum power efficiency at maximum output power, but with only partial gain linearity.
