titleOfInvention | Compositions for detecting proteases in biological samples and methods of using the same |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nThe present invention provides novel reagents whose fluorescence is increased in the presence of a particular protease. The reagent comprises a characteristically folded peptide backbone, wherein each end of said backbone is conjugated to a fluorophore. When the folded peptide is cleaved by digestion with a protease, the fluorophore provides a high intensity fluorescent signal at visible wavelengths. These protease indicators are particularly suitable for the detection of protease activity in biological samples, especially frozen tissue fragments. Because of their high fluorescent signal at visible wavelengths. The present invention also provides a method for detecting protease activity in a field frozen fragment. |
