(57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to a novel polymorphic pigment form of the phthalocyanines, a process for the salt milling of crude phthalocyanines in the presence of a water-soluble neutral organic liquid, and some uses thereof. These phthalocyanines are stable β-like mixed phases (having no α phase at all) and have excellent pigment properties, and thus are suitable for, for example, electrophotographic toner pigments. The compounds of the present invention are represented by formula (I), wherein M is two hydrogens or a monovalent metal, one divalent metal or a divalent oxo metal, hydroxy metal or halogen metal moiety. With the proviso that the metal is not copper and each X is independently hydrogen or halogen. |
