abstract (57) Abstract: An apparatus (20) for use in filtering emboli from a blood vessel or performing at least one of thrombectomy and embolectomy is provided. The vascular device (50) includes one or more support hoops (263, 264) connected proximate the distal end of the guidewire (252), and a blood-permeable bladder (258) secured to the support hoop. The support hoop forms the mouth of the blood-permeable bag. When the device is folded for removal, the mouth of the bag is closed to prevent material from leaking out of the bag.
