(57) SUMMARY The present invention relates to compositions and methods for the diagnosis and treatment of neoplastic cell growth and proliferation in mammals, including humans. The present invention is based on the identification of genes that amplify in the genome of tumor cells. Such gene amplification is associated with overexpression of the gene product relative to normal cells of the same tissue type and is expected to contribute to tumorigenesis. Therefore, the protein encoded by the amplified gene is considered to be a useful target for diagnosis and / or treatment (including prevention) of certain cancers, and can be a predictive indicator of the prognosis of tumor treatment. The present invention relates to novel polypeptides and nucleic acid molecules encoding these polypeptides. Also provided herein are these nucleic acid molecules, chimeric polypeptides comprising a polypeptide of the invention fused to a heterologous polypeptide sequence, including antibodies that bind to a polypeptide of the invention. And a method for producing the polypeptide of the present invention. |
