abstract | An apparatus and a method for determining the concentration of an analyte in a physiological sample are provided. The apparatus of the present invention is an instrument characterized by having an internal structure, wherein the internal structure is configured to select a single test strip at a time. A test strip selection element having a decreasing cross-sectional area and means for determining a concentration of an analyte in a physiological sample provided to the selected test strip. Also, the method of the present invention for containing at least one test piece and dispensing a single test piece at a time comprises providing a meter having at least one test piece contained therein.
