titleOfInvention Fluorescent light
abstract (57) [Summary] [Problem] A mercury vapor discharge fluorescent lamp having a mercury barrier (1) 0) is provided. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, an inner surface (4), a phosphor layer (14) disposed adjacent to the inner surface of a glass envelope (12), and a seal inside the envelope are provided. There is provided a mercury vapor discharge fluorescent lamp (10) having a light transmissive glass envelope provided with a sustaining filling gas (22) composed of a mercury vapor and an inert gas, and a mercury barrier layer (16). . The mercury barrier prevents the mercury atoms from being absorbed into the glass envelope and amalgamating with the sodium atoms in the envelope. Mercury barriers do not substantially absorb mercury.
