abstract | (57) [Summary] [Problem] To convert adamantane having a hydrogen atom bonded to at least three of four bridgehead positions into a hydroxyl group simply and efficiently from adamantane to form adamantanetriol or adamantanetetraol. obtain. SOLUTION: In an organic acid aqueous solution, 9 to 50 mol, preferably 10 to 10 mol per 1 mol of adamantane as a raw material. Oxidize using ~ 30 moles of chromic acid. When the raw material adamantane is unsubstituted adamantane, the amount of chromic acid to be used is set to 10 to 14 mol, so that adamantane triol having a hydroxyl group introduced into only three of the bridgehead positions is reduced to 16 mol or more. By doing so, it is possible to selectively obtain adamantanetetraol having all four hydroxyl groups introduced. When adamantanes in which one of the bridgehead positions is substituted with an alkyl group or the like are used as the raw material, the remaining three hydrogen atoms at the bridgehead positions are converted to hydroxyl groups to give adamantanetriols. |
