A nanocalorimeter array for sensing a chemical reaction, wherein the nanocalorimeter array includes a substrate and less than one thermal isolation region on the substrate, wherein the nanocalorimeter array includes a reference region and a measurement region. An isolation region, less than one thermal equilibrium region in each of the thermal isolation regions, and less than one thermal measurement device in each of the thermal equilibrium regions, the thermal measurement device coupled to the sensing electronics. A nano-calorimeter array.
