(57) [Summary] A liquid crystal polymer is used for an optically anisotropic film, a liquid crystal alignment film, an optical recording material, and the like. Conventionally, polymers of liquid crystalline acrylate have been used for such applications, but this polymer has low heat resistance and low mechanical strength. The itaconic acid derivative of the formula (1). Preferred R 1, H, F, Cl, -NCO , -CF 3, -CF 2 H, —OCF 3 , —OCF 2 H, and C 1 to C 1 2 alkyl or alkoxy. Desirable R 2 is aliphatic alkyl having 1 to 20 carbons or cyclic alkyl having 3 to 20 carbons. Preferred A 1 to A 3 are 1,4-cyclohexylene in which arbitrary H may be replaced by F, 1,4-cyclohexenylene; 1,4-phenylene in which arbitrary H may be replaced by F; Z 1 to Z 2 is a single bond, -COO -, - CF 2 O -, - CH 2 O —, —CH 2 CH 2 —, —C≡C— and the like. m is 1 Or 0, and n is an integer of 1 to 20. |
