abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a rectangular non-aqueous secondary battery having high capacity, little capacity deterioration due to charge / discharge cycles, and excellent charge / discharge cycle characteristics. SOLUTION: A sheet-like positive electrode having a positive electrode active material-containing coating film formed on a substrate and a sheet-like negative electrode having a negative electrode active material-containing coating film formed on a substrate are spirally interposed via a separator. In a rectangular non-aqueous secondary battery in which an elliptical wound electrode body wound on a rectangular battery case is housed, a sheet-like positive electrode constituting the elliptical wound electrode body has a thickness of a base material of the positive electrode. The positive electrode after forming the active material-containing coating film is 1/9 or less of the total thickness of the positive electrode, and the bending reaction force when the sheet-like positive electrode is bent into a cylindrical shape with a radius of 0.5 mm is 120 kg or less. To form a prismatic non-aqueous secondary battery. The binder of the positive electrode active material-containing coating film preferably contains rubber, and further preferably contains a polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer containing vinylidene fluoride as a main component monomer.
