titleOfInvention Matrix converter for converting electrical energy
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new kind of matrix converter which can operate at a high voltage and nevertheless is extremely small. Switch control, of course, provides a matrix converter separated from the terminals of the switch. SOLUTION: At least one voltage source (1), especially a power supply network, and at least one current source (2), In particular, a matrix converter for converting electrical energy to and from a load, said matrix converter comprising a matrix of switches connecting said voltage source (1) to said current source (2), each matrix comprising: A switch has two terminals, each located on a separate, parallel plane, and a photoconductive diamond substrate inserted between the two terminals of the switch, each switch having two terminals between the two terminals. Characterized by being controlled by a light source (7) for irradiating a diamond substrate (4) inserted into the substrate.
