abstract (57) [Summary] (Modifications) [PROBLEMS] To provide a modified metallothionein whose metal binding ability is further enhanced as compared with wild-type metallothionein. SOLUTION: One or more non-cysteine residues in the amino acid sequence of metallothionein, for example, the 11th aspartic acid residue (Asp) and the 28th serine residue (Ser) in the specific amino acid sequence are replaced with a cysteine residue ( Cys), a modified metallothionein, a polynucleotide encoding the metallothionein, and a recombinant vector carrying the polynucleotide.
