abstract (57) [Problem] To selectively and efficiently produce a polyoxyalkylene derivative having functional groups at both ends. SOLUTION: M + -C - H 2 -CN [M is an alkali metal] The alkylene oxide is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator represented in, M- (AO) n-CH 2 -CN [n is 5 to 1000 0, AO is an oxyalkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms] Next, chemical modification is performed to obtain RY- (AO) n-CH 2 -CN [Y is an alkylene group, R is a protected functional group], and then the terminal of the cyano group is reduced to obtain RY- ( AO) to obtain a n-CH 2 -CH 2 -NH 2 , and then hydrolyzing X-Y- (AO) n- CH 2 -CH 2 -NH 2 A polyoxyalkylene derivative represented by [X is a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group, an aldehyde group, a mercapto group or an amino group] is obtained.
