PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1,4-dicarbonyl compound (5) useful as an intermediate for producing pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, functional materials and the like under industrially advantageous conditions. SOLUTION: An organic zinc compound (2), a conjugated carbonyl compound (3) and a trialkylsilyl halide (4) are reacted in the presence of a palladium catalyst, a lithium salt and carbon monoxide, and then treated with an acid.
