abstract | (57) [Problem] To provide a method for producing an aromatic tribromomethylsulfonyl derivative. SOLUTION: A method for producing an aromatic tribromomethylsulfonyl derivative, which comprises oxidizing and brominating 4-methylthiobenzenes. Preferably, a method for producing an aromatic tribromomethylsulfonyl derivative in which phenylthioacetic acids or salts thereof are oxidized and brominated in the presence of a base and water or using hypobromite. Here, the base is preferably an alkali metal hydroxide. The hypobromite is preferably sodium hypobromite or potassium hypobromite. |
