abstract (57) [Summary] (Corrected) [PROBLEMS] To provide an economical method for manufacturing an electrode assembly of virtually any shape that can be fitted into a casing of similar shape without impairing its volume efficiency. The invention is accomplished by providing an electrode assembly of a multi-plate anode and cathode plate that substantially conforms to the interior shape of the casing. Thus, the internal space that is not occupied by the electrode active material is reduced as much as possible, regardless of the shape required by the device driven by the battery for the electrode assembly.
