abstract (57) Abstract: Provided are a carbon black useful as a carrier for an electrode catalyst, and an electrode catalyst and an electrochemical device using the carrier which are excellent in electrode performance. The carbon black has a DBP oil absorption of 17 or more. 0~300cm 3 / 100g, the specific surface area measured by the BET method 250-4 00m 2 / g, primary particle diameter 10~17Nm, and a radius which opens on the surface total volume of pores is 10 to 30 nm 0. 40 to 2.0 cm 3 / g. This electrode catalyst is used for an electrochemical device such as a polymer electrolyte fuel cell.
