abstract (57) [Summary] [Problem] To provide a method for producing a high-performance and inexpensive polarizing plate that improves the yield in the punching process and enables the use of a hydrophobic protective film, and a liquid crystal display device using the polarizing plate . The film holding means is advanced in the longitudinal direction to apply tension and stretch, and the polarizing film includes a protective film laminating step, and the film is obliquely stretched with a degree of polarization of 80% or more and a transmittance of 35% or more. This is a method of manufacturing a polarizing plate, and in the stretching step, the locus L1 of the holding means at one end of the film, the locus L2 of the holding means at the other end, and the distance W between two substantial holding release points. However, it satisfies the following formula (1), maintains the support of the film, Stretched in a state where the volatile content is 12% or more, and then contracts to lower the volatile content rate to form a polarizing film.
