titleOfInvention | Electronic display medium, electronic display medium writing method, and image writing device |
abstract | (57) [Summary] An electronic display medium having both a fixed display section and a variable display section, an image is fixedly recorded on the electronic display medium, Provided is an electronic display medium writing method capable of additionally writing another image and an electronic display device using the writing method. An image is recorded between a pair of electrodes by both the irradiation of writing light carrying an image and the application of a voltage between the pair of electrodes, both of which are formed of cholesteric liquid crystal. An electronic display medium comprising a first liquid crystal layer and a second liquid crystal layer laminated on each other, wherein the first liquid crystal layer is irradiated with writing light for carrying an image and the second liquid crystal layer between a pair of electrodes. In the case where an image is recorded on the second liquid crystal layer irrespective of the presence or absence of light irradiation, the image is recorded by applying a voltage that keeps the image recorded. |
