abstract (57) [Summary] (Modifications) [PROBLEMS] To provide a semi-transmissive transmittance variable element capable of freely changing a see-through function and a mirror function without requiring a backlight or a lighting device. SOLUTION: At least a transmissive element 3 having a dimming layer 2 whose light transmission amount changes by application of a voltage and two light-transmitting conductive substrates 1, 1 'arranged on both sides of the dimming layer. There is provided a semi-transmissive transmittance variable element including a half mirror layer 4 on one substrate side.
