abstract |
(57) [Problem] To provide a method for producing a lactone compound having high optical purity by performing asymmetric Bayer-Villiger oxidation with high enantioselectivity from a prochiral cyclic ketone compound. SOLUTION: A salen cobalt complex having a cis-β structure represented by any of the following formulas (I) and (II) is used as a catalyst, and a cyclic ketone compound is hydrogen peroxide and an urea-hydrogen peroxide adduct. A method for producing an optically active lactone compound, comprising conducting Bayer-Villiger oxidation with at least one oxidizing agent selected from the group consisting of (UHP).
