PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optical element comprising a polymer liquid crystal layer having a helical twisted molecular structure, having good thickness accuracy and good optical characteristics. SOLUTION: A step of applying a mixed solution containing a polymerizable nematic liquid crystal compound and a polymerizable chiral agent on an alignment substrate and aligning, and then aligning the mixed solution in contact with a gas containing oxygen. A method for producing an optical element comprising a polymer liquid crystal layer having a helical twist molecular structure, comprising a step of irradiating radiation from the substrate side to polymerize and cure the mixed solution. |
