titleOfInvention | Copolymer latex for chipping-resistant aqueous coatings |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer latex for chipping-resistant water-based paint, which can remarkably improve the balance of chipping resistance, adhesion to a metal substrate, water resistance, and thermal cycling resistance. The conjugated diene monomer is 20 to 80% by weight, and the ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer is 0.5 to 15% by weight. And other vinyl monomers 5 to 7 copolymerizable therewith. A copolymer latex for chipping-resistant water-based paints obtained by emulsion polymerization of 9.5% by weight in the presence of a cyclic unsaturated hydrocarbon having one unsaturated bond in the ring (such as cyclohexene). The gel content represented by the toluene insoluble content of the latex is preferably from 60 to 100% by weight. |
