PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based coating composition and a water-based coating composition capable of obtaining a coating film excellent in corrosion resistance and hardness, particularly immediately after coating film formation, without being restricted by a coating method. To provide an aqueous dispersion of a vinyl-modified epoxy ester resin for obtaining the same. SOLUTION: A mixture of a vinyl compound containing an acid group-containing monomer is graft-polymerized in the presence of a condensate obtained by condensing an epoxy resin and a fatty acid as essential components in a composition such that the epoxy group becomes excessive. After neutralizing at least a part of the acid groups in the obtained graft polymer, it is dispersed in water. |
