abstract [Problem] To easily and rapidly reduce the oil concentration in an emulsion type lubricating oil which supplies metal to machining / cutting or a sliding part of a machine part and provides lubrication by oil together with a cooling function by water. Provided is a method for measuring an oil concentration in an emulsion which can be quantitatively determined. SOLUTION: An emulsion in which an oil component is dispersed in water is provided with an alcohol represented by a general formula C n H 2n + 1 OH, a (poly) glycol represented by a general formula HO (C n H 2n ) m OH, formula C n H 2n + 1 OC m H 2m + chain ether represented by 1, the general formula C n H 2n O any one cyclic ether represented by m, or two or more of the added emulsion To disperse the light in the ultraviolet to visible light region to increase the transmittance in the wavelength region, and to dissolve the oil in the range of 200 to 900 nm. Is measured to determine the oil concentration in the emulsion.
