PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical band-shaped seal body having no leakage of exhaust gas through a spherical band-shaped seal body itself and having a stable sealing property, and a method of manufacturing the same. A spherical belt-shaped seal body (1) is formed by compressing a heat-resistant material (2) containing expanded graphite and a reinforcing material (3) made of a wire mesh and filling the heat-resistant material (2) in a wire mesh of the reinforcing material (3). 2 and a reinforcing member 3 are provided in a mixed and integrated manner. The seal body 4 has a cylindrical inner peripheral surface 6 defining a through hole 5, a partially convex spherical surface 7, and a partially convex spherical surface. The spherical surface 7 has annular large-diameter end faces 8 and small-diameter end faces 9 on the large-diameter side and the small-diameter side, respectively. |
