PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbonyl compound by oxidizing a primary alcohol with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an easily prepared catalyst without using a phase transfer catalyst. . A tungsten compound comprising tungsten metal, molybdenum metal, tungsten and a Group IIIb, IVb, Vb or Group VIb element excluding oxygen, and molybdenum and a Group IIIb, Group IVb, Group Vb group Or a primary alcohol and a peroxide in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst obtained by reacting hydrogen peroxide with at least one metal compound selected from the group consisting of molybdenum compounds comprising a Group VIb element excluding oxygen. A method for producing a carbonyl compound, comprising reacting hydrogen with hydrogen. |
