To provide a method for producing an α-olefin low polymer which can be prevented for a long time and can be operated for a long period of time. In a method for producing an α-olefin low polymer by subjecting an α-olefin to a low polymerization reaction in the presence of a catalyst and an organic solvent, the organic solvent is introduced from a nozzle installed in a reactor gas phase space. The solvent containing the solvent is jetted as a linear or rod-shaped pressure fluid toward the reactor gas phase wall surface, and the polymerization reaction is performed while washing the reactor gas phase wall surface.
