(57) [Summary] The object of the present invention is to provide a compound capable of activating the enzymatic activity of CBS. The present invention provides a therapeutic agent for homocysteinemia or a psychotropic drug, which comprises a nitroprusside compound and / or a derivative thereof as an active ingredient. The nitroprusside compound enhances the enzymatic activity of CBS. as a result, Homocysteine is consumed and the homocysteine concentration in the blood decreases. Improvement of homocysteinemia is also useful for treating homocystinuria. Alternatively, hydrogen sulfide produced by the enzymatic action of CBS acts as a neurotransmitter or modifier in the brain. Therefore, nitroprusside compounds are also useful as psychotropic drugs. |
